Smoothie Central

Smoothies are a quick and easy way to pack in tons of healthy nutrients!  They are great anytime of day, and are an excellent alternative to empty calorie desserts.  Variations on smoothie recipes are truly endless, so I’m just going to start by putting a few of my favorites on here.  I plan to add more in time, so be sure to check back.  I’d love to hear your thoughts if you try any!  And have fun experimenting with your own smoothie creations – I’d love to hear about those, too!  Cheers to making food choices nourish our body, mind, and spirit!

I love this one with Ekekiel bread for breakfast or as a post-workout snack.  I start with 1/2-whole banana, depending on the size of banana, handful of spinach, frozen blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries, and lastly add water-more or less depending on how thick you like your smoothies.  Frozen bananas will make a much thicker smoothie, too.  Though not all blenders will be able to handle all of that frozen fruit.  If you go frozen bananas, you may want fresh berries.  Play around with the ingredients and find which combination you like best!
